Merritt #1 Inc. is an Oregon family owned company based in Salem, Oregon.  The company was founded by Merritt Truax who started our business in 1935 and was running it until he passed in 2002.  It is now owned and ran by his son Michael Truax and grandson Tad Truax.  We are currently operating a total of eight locations and are directly involved in all of them.

Our company culture is focused on creating value for our customers and co-workers.  This  is about our customer experience and commitment to doing the best we can to have competitively priced products with clean facilities and excellent customer service.  For our co-workers it means that we are a performance based company that always strives to promote from within based on that co-workers performance.

Being performance based means that we are diverse as a company and promote strictly based on the performance of the individual.  It also means that all available positions are open for any employee to apply for no matter how long they have been employed with us.  Employees are given a review twice a year to receive feedback and have wages reviewed.  It was our hope when taking on operations in 2009 to create a business where both co-workers and customers felt welcomed and appreciated from all backgrounds and if you are someone who believes that you can contribute to that endeavor then we have opportunities for you.
